#spreadjoynotgerms Blog Hop!

Hey crafty friends welcome to the  #spreadjoynotgerms Blog Hop!
You should have arrived here from Tangii's blog. Didn't you just adore her TRHD Hello card?  Big Kudos to the Catherine Pooler blog and the Hedge Hog Hollow Blog for creating this collaboration!
I am sure you've seen some amazing creations by my fellow bloggers and I hope these do not disappoint!   You will find the next hop as well as giveaway information at the end of the blog.   I hope you enjoy and are inspired by the two cards I have created for this event. I will randomly draw two of you from those who leave a comment on my blog to get one of these cards, my choice.  Here we go!

My 1st card is title Just Breathe.  I have created this A2 size background a while ago using a stencil and distress oxide ink.  I wasn't sure what I was going to use it for. As I looked at it, I was reminded of a swimming poolin the summer time. One that has a slight  breeze blowing across the top of the water with sunlight shining through to the bottom of the pool.  It was calming and the words just breathe came to mind. We need to take a moment and just breathe in this uncertain time.

A -  Are used the Haley Alphabet dies from i-crafter to create this card.  Using a ruler I lined up the word breathe at the bottom of the stenciled card front.   I used purple tape to keep the letter dies in place as I ran it through my die cutting machine. I made sure to save the letters because I will need parts of them to create this card
B, C -  I grabbed a piece of shiny black A2 size cardstock  To use as my 1st player in this design. I chose to eliminate the outline of the alphabet letters. I temporarily secured the inked background with the cut letters on top of the black shinny cardstock.  I centered the letters in the opening and glued them down. When the letters are glued down you can see the black outline
D - I removed the inked background for the next step

E -  This time I lined up thedies to create the word "just" and centered it above the word breathe.  Are used purple tape to secure the letters and ran it through my die cutting machine.  I discarded the letter outlines
F -   I lined up the stenciled background over the word breathe.  I added 2 layers of double sided foam adhesive tape to the back of the letters and center them in the letter opening as shown
G -  I removed the stenciled card front and turned it over and added one layer of double sided foam tape to it
H -  I attached the stenciled card front to the top of the black card stock with the letters glued to it.

You can see here that the word "just" is raised and the word "breathe" is recessed.  Just like when you're taking a breath.

My 2nd creation is called Love & Hugs I am using i-crafter dies with the Pear Blossom Press EZ-lights.   I can't wait to send this card to one of you.
This fun interactive card has arms popping up to gives a hug and the word hugs lights up!  EZ-Lights are three pre-wired lights with a switch.  All you need to do is plan out the placement of the lights, tape them in place, secure the switch and add the battery. Easy peasy!  Now on to the card tutorial.  This one is a bit detailed.

A -  I use my Misti stamp positioner to lineup the word "hugs"
B -   I used purple tape to hold the letters and place
C -  I lined up the word hugs and taped it in the Pop Up Wiper Insert die's main panel
D, E -  I ran it through the die cutting  machine and  removed the letters exposing  the word "hugs"

F -  I cut a second wiper panel out of the same printed card stock.   I trimmed the piece with the word "hug" on it for the front panel
G -   This is a 5 pack of the EZ-ights. from Pear Blossom Press.  It can see they are wired and ready to go. I will only have to do a little tightening up at the wires later when I add it to my card
H -  Using my slotted hole punch I created 3 openings on the main panel for the lights
I -  I cut a small piece of shiny metallic cardstock 2 1/2" x 6/8" I scored it long ways at 3/8" and then at 4/8"
J -   I lined up the slots I cut in Step H  and pierced holes in the foil cardstocks shown.  This created a foil gutter
K -  Here are the pieces so far

L, M -  i folded the score lines in the wiper base, to create the pop up mechanism and glued it into place on its backside
N -  To create the card base, I took a piece of 8 1/2 "x 5 1/2"  yellow cardstock  And scored it at 4 1/8" and 4 3/8".  This will be a thicker card
O -  Took another piece of yellow cardstock measuring 5 1/2" x 2 5/8".it is scored length wise at 3/8",  5/8",  1 1/2" ,  and 1 3/4".    This piece will create a small compartment (soffit) to hide the light wires as well as the light switch
P -   I used the wiper base I punched holes in as a guide to center the holes in soffits where the hidden lights will come through
Q -  I punched a 1/2 circle in the top right side of the soffit

R -  A loosely knotted the excess wires of the EZ-Lights to fit into the soffit
S -  I pushed one light through each of the holes from the inside to the outside of the soffit
T, U -   Using a piece of 6/8" x 2 3/4" yellow cardstock,  I created a folded base and slide pull out for the battery pack.i stamped press me so it aligned up over the lightswitch/button on the battery pack
V -  This now slides in-and-out of the soffit as shown
W -   And lastly added a strip of printed cardstock to the front of the soffit.

X -  I added double sided and he serve tape and glue to the front lower flaps of the wiper base
Y -  I attached it to the soffit making sure the printed paper is coming forward and the lights are lined up with the openings in the front too
Z -  I threaded one light through each of the openings in the foil gutter piece I created earlier and tested the light switch

1 -  I cut a piece of blue foil card stock slightly smaller than the wiper base front.   I added a piece of vellum behind the word "hugs"
2 -  I glued the foil gutter in place a d gently pushed the light wires back into the soffit so only exposing the small lights. I then used two pieces of foam squares per light to adhere it to the foil gutter as shown.  Making sure the lights are aimed to the back wiper base. The light will bounce off the blue foil cardstock
3 -  I attached the blue foil cardstock to the back wiper base And attached Thick double sided adhesive foam tape to frame out the word "hug" making sure to leave room for the lights
4, 5 -  I attached the hugs to the front of the wiper base and tested the lights exposing the small lights.
4, 5 -  I attached the hugs to the front of the wiper base and tested the lights

6 -  Using both tape and glue to the bottom of the soffitt I attached it to the bottom yellow A2 card base before the first scoreline
7 -  Using glue I attached the 1/4" soffit to the 1/4" scored area of the A2 card base
8 -  Holding the folded wiper mechanism down towards the card floor, I added glue and double sided and he said tape to the small folded flap and brought the back of the card forward using pressure on the card allowing the glue to set.  You will see I used a small cutting mat as a lift. Once the blue was set I put the piece aside.

9 -  After a bit of trial-and-error  I created the arms to use with the wiper mechanism. This will create a hug movement.  I have included the pattern below
10 -  I die cut hearts from my heart nesting dies.  I used my larger heart to die cut a pattern paper heart and a foil blue heart to stack on the front of the card. I used the Love sentiment from the Heart and hand Wiper insert  To die cut the word from the patterned paper heart
11 -  I used the 2 smaller hearts to create the heart inside the card from prattern paper and blue foil cardstock and glued them together.   I glued the large pattern paper heart on to the large blue heart and add the final pieces to complete the "o" and "e" in the word "love"
12 -  Are used my 3rd largest nesting heart and dye cut the heart out of the same printed paper I created the inside wiper with. Using the Carly alphabet I die cut out the & and glued blue foil to the back of the opening
13 -   I stacked and glued the  "Love" heart and the "&" heart togethers shown

Here is your hugging hands pattern

13 -  After creating the pattern I cut out the hugging hands from blue cardstock
14 -  I used a repositionable adhesive to find the correct arms placement to create the hug when the card is opened. I also slightly curved the arms inward
15, 16 -  Once the position was perfect, I glue the arms permanently into place
17 -  I added the smaller double heart behind the hugging hands on the card back has shown. When the card is open it looks like the hands or hugging the heart

18 -  I cut a doily out of the patterned paper and added it to the inside up against the soffi edge
19 -  The position to and glued the two hearts to the front of the card
20, 21 -  I glued pieces of another die cut doily on the opposite corners, (lower left and upper right) on the card front

22, 23 -  Here you can see where the battery and light switch button are placed
24 -  Here is the finished front of the card with a little added bling
